Untold: The Daniel Morgan Murder

Over the three decades since Daniel was killed in March 1987, and through five failed police investigations, his has become the most investigated murder in British history.

It was described by the then Assistant Commissioner John Yates in 2006 as “one of the most disgraceful episodes in the entire history of the Metropolitan Police Service”.

In 2011, the then Acting Commissioner Tim Godwin acknowledged “the repeated failure of the Metropolitan Police Service over the years to confront the role played by police corruption in protecting those responsible for the murder from being brought to justice”.

Since the Home Secretary announced the Daniel Morgan Independent Panel to look into the case in 2013, Daniel’s family have been waiting for the Panel to report on its findings.

In the meanwhile, Daniel’s brother, Alastair Morgan, has been working on the Untold podcasts with journalist Peter Jukes, to tell the story about the murder and his subsequent journey. The story moves from back streets of London, through the highest echelons of Scotland Yard, to the offices of Rupert Murdoch's best selling newspapers, to the doors of Number Ten Downing Street.

If you haven't heard this story, ask yourself, why?

Episode 1 was released at midnight Wednesday 1 June 2016, and subsequent episodes have been released every week since then. Listen to the podcasts here.
